A reimagining of Top Ten, the 2022 Spiel Des Jahres nominee from Cocktail Games, Exploding Kittens has secured the rights to develop the English-language version of one of Europe’s most popular party games. That Escalated Quickly (RRP £19.99) kicks off with a player reading a question card aloud. Each card sets up a scenario such as, “I’m jumping out of an airplane. When I pull the ripcord, what comes out of my pack?” Meanwhile, the rest of the players are assigned a secret number between one and 10, which will determine how they answer the question based on the scale provided by the card. In the case of the airplane scenario, players answer with one being the “least effective” (an elephant wearing lead armor) to 10 being the “most effective” (a gigantic parachute with an extra backup gigantic parachute). The player who read the original question must correctly rank the numerical order of each player’s answer. If the player guesses the correct order, everyone wins. Best for players ages 10 and up, That Escalated Quickly can be enjoyed by two to eight players.
